Awards season is well underway and within the space of 24 hours we’ve seen the BAFTAs in London’s Royal Opera House, followed by the Grammys in LA’s Downtown Staple Center venue.

So this year pre the Grammys awards ceremony, a memo was sent out to all attendees regarding the dress code. They decided to do this to prevent wardrobe malfunctions and inappropriate suggestive costumes/outfits as worn by previous attendees/performers.

As seen on E! Online website, the memo states (in a somewhat surprising, perhaps seemingly colloquial lexis):

“Please be sure that buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered. Thong type costumes are problematic. Please avoid exposing bare fleshy under curves of the buttocks and buttock crack. Bare sides or under curvature of the breasts is also problematic. Please avoid sheer see-through clothing that could possibly expose female breast nipples. Please be sure the genital region is adequately covered so that there is no visible ‘puffy’ bare skin exposure.”

However while some of the guests listened intently, others still sounded to the beat of their own drum and followed their own rules.

Here are my favourite and best dressed of this years Grammys 2013:

Taylor Swift donned a very sophisticated Grecian style cream/white gown by J. Mendel. She wore it with Jimmy Choo shoes, Lorraine Schwartz earrings, a Jaimin with Lorraine Schwartz bracelet and Ofira ring. With her young, not-so-perfect perfect up-do, Taylor looks incredible!

Natasha Beddingfield looked absolutely stunning in a red lace cut-out Emerson floor length gown from the Spring 2013 collection. She paired this with red satin shoes (designer TBC) and Marina B jewels. With such strong detailing in the dress, her natural makeup and simple hair style ensure that the focus doesnt move from her outfit. An absolute round of applause for this gorgeous look.

Carly Rae Jepson graced the carpet in a black Roberto Cavalli gown. Matched with Jerome C. Rousseau shoes and H. Stern jewellery, the US popstar looks fabulously chic.

Rihanna sported a custom made Azzedine Alaia scarlet dress together with Manolo Blahnik heels and Neil Lane jewellery. I usually have a very 50/50 view on stars wearing red on a red carpet when the dress has no definite, dramatic detailing. However while this dress is a similar red hue to her path, the figure-hugging, almost see-through flowing gown together with her loose long curls really sets Rihanna apart from the crowds.

Maybe its the influence of her beau John Mayer, or maybe its just because her complicated past marriage is an official closed chapter in her life. whatever it is, Katy Perry looks better than ever. Wearing a sea foam coloured gown by Gucci Resort 2013, with intricate floral detailing around the collar, her loose hair style and natural make-up give Katy a really fresh new image. Lets hope we see more of this new chapter.

Another green dress to grace the carpet was worn by none other than Florence Welch. This custom made Givenchy is just stunning. Being such a bold, sparkly green hue, this gown is very “in” for this season. The contrast of green gown and accessories (designers TBC) against her red locks really works incredibly well with her skin tone.

Finally we see Carrie Underwood also donning an almost gothic Roberto Cavalli black floor length number accessorised with a 381 carat diamond necklace. No doubt that comes with its own security team.

Congratulations to all the winners!

Forget the unfortunate British weather of rain – not to mention the reappearance of some snow in central London, the stars were gracing the red carpet outside the Royal Opera House (some of them freezing might I add) looking absolutely fabulous.

One of my faves Dermot O'Leary along with his X Factor partner in crime Caroline Flack hosted the E! Live from the Red Carpet for the event, bringing back the infamous Mani-Cam and Stilleto-Cam.

Here are my red carpet loves:

Anne Hathaway has come along way from the innocent star of The Princess Diaries to a woman who knows how to dress for the occasion. Wearing a black Burberry gown with gold detailing, she is a subtle stunner.

Unlike the majority of the dark red carpet, this next dress brightened up the dark and gloomy evening. Going for an exquisitely classic strapless look, Marion Cotillard donned a very bold yellow Dior gown from the Spring 2013 couture runway collection.

SATC star Sarah Jessica Parker continues as the trend setter (and breaker in this case) we've always known and loved by walking down the damn carpet in a black jumpsuit by Elie Saab – unlike her female counterparts (aside from MTV's Laura Whitmore who also donned a plunge black jumpsuit by Alexandre Vauthier) who all wore floor length gowns.

Another shocker of the evening was Helen Mirren's cutesy candy pink crop hair do which made its debut on the BAFTAs 2013 red carpet. The designer of her dress is still TBC.

Next we have the stunning Juno Temple who rocked the carpet in a simply styled white Stella McCartney gown with black detailing.

Other stars in attendance included Bradley Cooper, Ben Afleck and George Clooney, as well as the infamous reining couple Tim Burton and Helena Bowham Carter among the A-List invitees.

The British Academy of Film and Television Awards 2013 was sponsored by EE. Watch the awards ceremony at 9pm tonight (10/02/13) on BBC1.

Having watched the new film, Gangster Squad in the cinema last weekend, I was in awe of how much of a babe Emma Stone was in her scenes as the main female actress (not to mention the hotness of Ryan Gosling!). While she was dressed in 1940s attire suited to that particular decade for the film, she still looked incredible. For Emma, this isn't just the work of a stylist on a film set as she's already proven to be a trend setter, capable of stealing the limelight of her fellow actresses, such as Lea Michelle and Emma Watson.

The one occasion in particular I have noted is the gorgeous fluorescent pink chiffon Valentino dress from the Resort 2013 collection that Emma wore to the ELLE's Women in Hollywood celebration back in October 2012. The dress features a chiffon overlay, with a white Peter Pan collar and cuffs. She accessorised this with a touch of Autumn/Winter glam using a small black Valentino studded clutch bag and a pair of houndstooth heels by Ferragamo. The black and white houndstooth design was a great trans-seasonal trick she's used – the design represents last season while the colours were an introduction to the monochrome black/white staples we're currently seeing.

At only 24, this young actress's style and career are certainly going from strength to strength, so I expect we'll be seeing a lot more of her this year.

Our latest Princess to join the Royal family is a normal girl who met her hubby while studying at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. *Note to self: apparently miracles really do happen*. While we love her for marrying Prince William, we love her even more for still parading around high street shops for her clothes. She has gone from small-town-girl to Princess with a sense of style.

One of K-Midd’s key pieces she has often been seen wearing is her pair of black wedged patent shoes from LK Bennett. As you can imagine, once this rat was let out of its bag and the public caught wind of where she bought them, they became not only a best seller, but sold out – WITH a wait list.

Maddox shoe, £175, LK Bennett

The Maddox shoe is a classic black wedge shoe with a patent finish. This is a wardrobe staple that every girl wants to own, and at some point in their lives probably should own. It goes with everything and every outfit whether it is casual or formal.

If you want to own these beauties but don’t have the cash, fear not! High street brand New Look have started doing some similar versions in a variety of colours which match our Spring/Summer ’12 pastels and candy colours trend.

Patent espadrille wedge in pale blue

Patent espadrille wedge in oatmeal

Patent espadrille wedge in apricot

At a bargain price of £17.99 who can resist these pastel and candy toned patent wedges? Add a pair of these to your wardrobe and you’ll feel like a Princess when you walk.

Looks like celebs all around are loving being recognised as STARS – well at least these 5 are:

L-R: Evan Rachel Wood, Rosario Dawson, Lily Allen, Pixie Geldof and Solange Knowles

They’ve all come out in star printed clothes – created by the amazing Dolce & Gabbana as part of their A/W ’12 collection, these gorgeous items have caused a stir amongst our celebs and now they’re starstruck!

I’m pretty sure this’ll be seen a lot more throughout the coming season at other more affordable brands. Watch this space.
