Best Dressed at the Academy Awards: The Oscars 2015

With little change in the overall event and presentation, the 87th Oscars Awards ceremony took place yesterday (while us over in the UK were asleep) at the Dolby Theater, Los Angeles.

As THE biggest showbiz awards show of the season, here are my top looks from the red carpet:

Giuliana Rancic

Giuliana never fails to impress from head to toe, fashion to beauty. With this exquisite dress by Mireille Dagher teamed with Saint Laurent shoes and jewellery from Forevermark diamonds, my favourite E! News anchor was dressed to perfection. She finished the look with a Rauwolf clutch.

Margot Robbie

Stunningly simplistic and chic, former Neighbours star Margot wowed the carpet in this plunge neckline Saint Laurent gown. Her statement zipper necklace is by Van Cleef and Arpels.

Dakota Johnson

Steering clear from the questioning, “will she wear grey?” sniggers after the Fifty Shades release, Dakota stunned us all in a bold red Saint Laurent gown teamed with Forevermark diamonds. Her shoes and bag were both from Bally. Her simplistic ponytail completed the look without taking away from her gorgeous dress.

Naomi Watts

Naomi’s Amani Prive dress was actually a couture piece that didn’t make it down the runway. With complementing blue and diamond drop earrings and a Rauwolf clutch, this look stood out as a modern take on the cut-out trend.

Rosamund Pike

Stunning in this textured Givenchy Couture gown, Rosamund looked divine in this lace number. With so much detail in the dress itself, she opted for a pair of earrings from Lorraine Schwartz.

Jennifer Aniston

Wearing a beaded, nude Versace dress, Jennifer ditched her latest red carpet accessory of choice (a body chain FYI) and opted for this sexy skin tight number and some Fred Leighton jewellery. This woman oozes confidence from this look.

Emma Stone

My favourite redhead of the moment, Emma Stone rocked the red carpet in this beautifully beaded chartreuse Elie Saab Haute Couture dress teamed with Christian Louboutin “Gardnera” heels. She finished her feminine look with Tiffany & Co jewellery and a Lee Savage clutch.

Reese Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon stuck to what she knows best. A classic, clean feminine silouhette created by none other than Tom Ford. Her look was completed by Tiffany & Co jewels.

Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo

Couple of the night a thousand times over went to these hot newlyweds. Adam dressed in Armani while his model wife, Behati wore Armani Prive.

So looks like from my list and the remainder of the red carpet, red was a top colour choice, as was embellishment and pearls, with either hair up and away from the face or down in a lob (that’s a long bob FYI).

Saint Laurent spread the love across the carpet to more than one attendee and boy was that an excellent choice on their part!

Last night the annual Met Ball event was upon us again. Held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, A Listers were in abundance donning a variety of ball gowns and ensembles to appreciate the Gala’s theme: Charles James: Beyond Fashion.

Here is my best dressed list of the stars who attended:

Kendal Jenner

Wearing a Topshop gown, Kendal has proven that she is now officially with the “in” crowd of fashion as she graced the red carpet. She finished her look with Chopard jewellery and Tabitha Simmons shoes.

Emma Stone

The Spider-Man beauty has been gracing the fashion hit list more and more recently, proving that she is a serious one to watch. Wearing a Thakoon dress, Graziela Gems and EF Collection jewellery teamed with Miu Miu shoes and a Tod’s clutch, Emma looked a modern picture of elegance.

Anna Kendrick

Simple, yet chic with cut out details. Anna looked the part last night in this J Mendal gown. She teamed this with Brian Atwood shoes, Graff diamonds and a Rauwolf clutch.

Nicole Richie

Dressed in Donna Karan Atelier, Nicole has shown us her playful side with her lilac toned hair pulled back in an updo – giving her whole look a creative edge.

Leighton Meester

She’s been out of sight recently, having only been photographed with her new hubby Adam Brody, but Leighton Meester sure made a grand entrance last night in an embellished dress by Emilio Pucci. She paired this with David Yurman jewellery and a Smythson clutch.

Sarah Jessica Parker

Reminiscent of her Carrie days, SJP never fails to disappoint when it comes to standing out. Wearing custom made Oscar de la Renta with Fred Leighton jewellery, she continued to make her mark on the fashion hall of fame.

Giuliana Rancic

One of my favourite journalists, Giuliana looked glamorous and red-carpet-ready for the event in a Black Grecian one shoulder Rhea Costa gown and Suzanne Kalan earrings.

Blake Lively

Gone are the days of Gossip Girl, as Blake turned up in this Gucci number with husband Ryan Reynolds in toe.

Georgia May Jagger

This is the first time I’ve featured the model in one of my Best Dressed lists, and boy did she deserve it with this sleek Thierry Mugler gown with exquisite cut lines teamed with Sergio Rossi shoes.

Rosie Huntington-Lively

Opting for a look very different from her counterparts, Rosie donned a fierce leopard print dress and statement shoes by Balmain.

Karolina Kurkova

This Showstopper gown by Marchesa was one to watch as she floated down the red carpet. With hair tied back and a gorgeous Harry Winston diamonds, this large layered navy floral gown speaks for itself.

Emmy Rossum

This gorgeous frock is a nod to the bold, bright florals as Emmy graced the carpet in this larger-than-life Carolina Herrera gown and Van Cleef jewellery.

Cara Delevigne

Looking sharp as ever, and opting for a trousers suit – as opposed to her glorious punk gown last year, Cara went head-to-toe in Stella McCartney.

Reese Witherspoon

Rarely does she make an appearance of late, but Reese Witherspoon made the right decision to attend her first Met Gala with this hot pink Stella McCartney gown. The sweetheart neckline and body hugging material accents her curves and her hot pink lipstick and diamond earrings give just the right uumph to this look.

David and Victoria Beckham

British power couple of our time, the Beckhams looked chic and glamorous at the Met Ball – I’m sure Victoria wouldn’t have had it any other way. Complementing each other by sticking to a simplistic monochrome coupled look, Victoria wore her own label paired with Casadei heels and Jacob & Co. earrings and bracelet. Meanwhile David was dressed in a Ralph Lauren Black Label tuxedo suit.

So that’s my selection. What are your opinions?

So after a busy week, (I'm a little late to the party I know), but I've just caught up with the greatness that was the 2013 MTV VMAs. Taking place in Brooklyn, New York on Sunday 25th August 2013 – boy, was it a good show!

Some of the A Listers – particularly the young females – stood out to me with their looks. It was clear to see some are now proving to the world they're no longer children, but beautiful, young women in their own rights (particularly those who've spent their childhood working on Disney programmes) now is their chance to evoke their matured personas.

Here's my take on the red carpet looks of the event:

I absolutely LOVE this Atelier Versace dress on Selena Gomez. It shows her new “grown up” image since she recently turned 21. The detailing is so specific and intricate with only eyelet fastenings holding together one side of the dress. she may have taken her inspiration from the infamous “safety pin” dress by the same designer worn by Elizabeth Hurley at the premiere for Four Weddings and a Funeral in 1994. The detail leads down go a single thigh high split. To complete her look, Selena teamed this Autumn/Winter 2013 dress with Atelier Versace shoes and Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

Taylor Swift wowed the crowd as always in a very sleek, navy Herve Leger by Max Azria dress. With details around the sweetheart neckline leading to a deep plunge, Taylor certainly deserved her place in yet another red carpet best dressed list. She teamed this with Prada shoes, a Smythson of Bond Street clutch, Lorraine Schwartz earrings and bracelets as well as Ofira rings and bracelets. This look was finished off with her gorgeous, golden pin curled hairdo.

Rita Ora has really upped her game by showing up on the red carpet in this exceptional Alex Vauthier crystal bodice dress with a long, blue feathered train. It was so long that Rita did in fact enlist her stylist to walk along behind her to take care of the train. The designer of her shoes is currently TBC, but she added Cartier rings to continue the class. Rita's new cropped blonde bob really adds a sleek touch – this is my favourite hairdo for her thus far.

I absolute love this style on Ellie Goulding. As we usually see our lovely Brit in edgy outfits, this Fume One Atamo studded nude dress still shows us Ellie's personality while retaining its feminine attitude. She finished the look with Brian Attwood shoes, Penny Previtte diamonds along with Lynn Ban earrings and claw rings. Her beautiful blonde, beach-waved hair really softens this overall look. A real ten out of ten.

Aussie born bombshell Iggy Azalea rocked up to the red carpet in this stunning silk embroidered gold sequin, sheer halter neck gown from the Spring/Summer 2013 collection by Emilio Pucci. The intricate detailing shows a bird design created out of the sequins, really giving the young rapper an exceptionally feminine look; so very different from her usual stage persona. While it leaves very little to the imagination the sequins are perfectly placed ensuring she keeps her dignity. With so much going on on her dress, she wore simplistic metallic gold heeled sandals (designer TBC), and no accessories except her signature bold, red lipstick.

Overall, there were tons of stars who turned up for the occasion looking their best. Some casual and some like the five above who really went the extra mile to strut their stilettos. The ceremony itself was great entertainment. I'm sure that any of you who watched would have been in absolute awe at Justin Timberlake's extended performance, including none other than his former band N*SYNC. The MTV VMAs 2013 is definitely one to be remembered.

During my last post, I showed the image of Katy Perry wearing her matching bralet and mini skirt by Dolce & Gabbana at Coachella, weekend 1 last weekend.

For those who are fans of Iggy Azalea, you might recognise this exact same outfit as the one she wears in the music video for her song, Work.

So who do you think wore it best?

And so here we are with another awards night (or day if you're in LA) with the A-Listers among the nominees attending the Oscars Academy Awards 2013 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

With thanks to the great Ryan Seacrest and the Fashion Police team presenting Live from the Red Carpet, us UK based admirers can watch in awe at the wonderous amounts of luxury designer gowns that grace the red carpet.

With so many amazing dresses, i couldnt even whittle it down to just a mere selection of 5, so I've had to up my Best Dressed list to 9. Here are my chosen favourites:

Jessica Chastain confidently walked the red carpet in this gorgeous copper coloured Armani Prive dress with a diagonal geometric patterned bodice (which really excentuates her curves in the right way) and an overlay of Swarovski crystals for that extra wow factor. Tailored to perfection, she accessorised the gown with vintage Harry Winston 1960s jewels. With a very Jessica Rabbit style of the sweetheart neckline along with the bold red lipstick and her natural red curls, Jessica has really crafted an old Hollywood glamour – a favourite style of the actress.

For a girl whose style has gone from strength to strength especially recently, Amanda Seyfried looks absolutely stunning. Wearing a custom made Alexander McQueen gown, along with custom made accessories, Amanda admitted proudly that this was her first choice of dress for the event.

The absolutely fabulous Reese Witherspoon – who recently gave birth to a baby boy in September 2012 (her third child) – stunned the red carpet in a cobalt blue Louis Vuitton gown matched with Louis Vuitton jewellery. Reese even admitted her 13-year-old daughter helped her pick out this look for the Oscars – much better option than when Sarah Michelle Gellar enlisted the help of her 2-year-old for styling her for the 2012 Golden Globes 2012. With such a new-mum glow, her hair was styled elegantly for the event by celebrity stylist Renato Campora.

Jennifer Lawrence glided down the red carpet in this wonderfully elegant Christian Dior haut couture gown. With such a stunning full dress, it's nice to see how she kept the look very minimalist by barely accessorising with just a small clutch (accessories designer TBC) and her hair pulled back and up. Her natural make-up ensures her looks overall stays youthful rather than ageing her with such a rich style of dress.

Given the fact I usually dislike red on a red carpet, this is one of very few dresses which made my cut. Kerry Washington got it right. The tone of this hue along with the embellishment on the bodice area which gave this reddy-orange Miu Miu gown an exquisitely sophisticated finish. Kerry Washington finished off this look with a Fred Leighton ring and a gorgeous sparkle layered Olivia Pope manicure for that added Oscars glam.

Amy Adams floated down the red carpet in this princess-style Oscar de la Renta pale grey/lilac gown. The full layered skirt and simple bustier complimented each other in the one look and ensured Amy looked very feminine and elegant. She teamed the dress with Mouawad jewellery.

Sandra Bullock wowed us all with this gorgeous lace and sheer gown (designer TBC). It's a very regular look for her to wear a cap style sleeve which just goes over the shoulders, along with a high neckline – a shape which is often very difficult for a lot of women to wear, especially on the red carpet – and be able to pull it off well. Sandra is truly on trend with this heavily embellished gown. She's gone back to basics with a very simple hair – a style she wore the last time she won an Oscar. With such a old statement of a dress, Sandra knows she doesn't have to get her hair to do the talking too. Instead, she's used a diamond hair clip (designer TBC) to sweep one side of her hair back to make a subtle statement. Accessories designers also TBC.

Another absolutely fascinating dress was worn by the lovely Naomi Watts. With such a specific cut, this dress certainly wouldn't suit just anyone, but Naomi pulls it off with more than just confidence. This custom Armani Prive gown in gunmetal grey has been in creation since the Golden Globes and Naomi has definitely had a lot of creative input into its entire design. She looks incredible.

Finally, I had to include this fabulously chic Rafael Cennamo gown. As a Co-Host on E!'s Fashion Police, she always, without a doubt looks stunning on all the red carpets – especially including the one. Giuliana has accessorised the dress with Christian Louboutin heels and Forevermark jewellery.
