And so here we are with another awards night (or day if you're in LA) with the A-Listers among the nominees attending the Oscars Academy Awards 2013 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
With thanks to the great Ryan Seacrest and the Fashion Police team presenting Live from the Red Carpet, us UK based admirers can watch in awe at the wonderous amounts of luxury designer gowns that grace the red carpet.
With so many amazing dresses, i couldnt even whittle it down to just a mere selection of 5, so I've had to up my Best Dressed list to 9. Here are my chosen favourites:
Jessica Chastain confidently walked the red carpet in this gorgeous copper coloured Armani Prive dress with a diagonal geometric patterned bodice (which really excentuates her curves in the right way) and an overlay of Swarovski crystals for that extra wow factor. Tailored to perfection, she accessorised the gown with vintage Harry Winston 1960s jewels. With a very Jessica Rabbit style of the sweetheart neckline along with the bold red lipstick and her natural red curls, Jessica has really crafted an old Hollywood glamour – a favourite style of the actress.
For a girl whose style has gone from strength to strength especially recently, Amanda Seyfried looks absolutely stunning. Wearing a custom made Alexander McQueen gown, along with custom made accessories, Amanda admitted proudly that this was her first choice of dress for the event.
The absolutely fabulous Reese Witherspoon – who recently gave birth to a baby boy in September 2012 (her third child) – stunned the red carpet in a cobalt blue Louis Vuitton gown matched with Louis Vuitton jewellery. Reese even admitted her 13-year-old daughter helped her pick out this look for the Oscars – much better option than when Sarah Michelle Gellar enlisted the help of her 2-year-old for styling her for the 2012 Golden Globes 2012. With such a new-mum glow, her hair was styled elegantly for the event by celebrity stylist Renato Campora.
Jennifer Lawrence glided down the red carpet in this wonderfully elegant Christian Dior haut couture gown. With such a stunning full dress, it's nice to see how she kept the look very minimalist by barely accessorising with just a small clutch (accessories designer TBC) and her hair pulled back and up. Her natural make-up ensures her looks overall stays youthful rather than ageing her with such a rich style of dress.
Given the fact I usually dislike red on a red carpet, this is one of very few dresses which made my cut. Kerry Washington got it right. The tone of this hue along with the embellishment on the bodice area which gave this reddy-orange Miu Miu gown an exquisitely sophisticated finish. Kerry Washington finished off this look with a Fred Leighton ring and a gorgeous sparkle layered Olivia Pope manicure for that added Oscars glam.
Sandra Bullock wowed us all with this gorgeous lace and sheer gown (designer TBC). It's a very regular look for her to wear a cap style sleeve which just goes over the shoulders, along with a high neckline – a shape which is often very difficult for a lot of women to wear, especially on the red carpet – and be able to pull it off well. Sandra is truly on trend with this heavily embellished gown. She's gone back to basics with a very simple hair – a style she wore the last time she won an Oscar. With such a old statement of a dress, Sandra knows she doesn't have to get her hair to do the talking too. Instead, she's used a diamond hair clip (designer TBC) to sweep one side of her hair back to make a subtle statement. Accessories designers also TBC.
Finally, I had to include this fabulously chic Rafael Cennamo gown. As a Co-Host on E!'s Fashion Police, she always, without a doubt looks stunning on all the red carpets – especially including the one. Giuliana has accessorised the dress with Christian Louboutin heels and Forevermark jewellery.
