This collection is certainly dark – but rather than considering it as simply Gothic, it appears to be a romanticized version. Primarily black, this collection shows pops of colour, such as the hot pink underlay of one of the gowns towards the end of the catwalk show (and one of my favourite details), as well as intricate black detailing on a white background, deep red tones, as well as layers of several textures.
Overall Monique Lhuillier has really created a truly elegant, and red-carpet-worthy selection of dresses, focusing mostly on the female form highlighted by belts and wiggle-style mid-length skirts and dresses. However with such variety of lengths, patterns, and textures throughout – she has ensured these pieces will attract a wide, sophisticated audience.
