Ralph Lauren Ready to Wear SS14

Presented at New York Fashion Week.

This collection was vast with 52 looks in total. It made a change from the other catwalks because 3/4 of its looks were very simple, yet bold. However, more than half were also just black and white. Whether it was block colours, details, tattersall check or a floral print – all of these lacked any form of colour. Colour popped up from time to time – literally, and these outfits in particular stunned the naked eye. Acid yellow, lime green and neon orange graced the catwalk in two piece suits and exceptional statement gowns. Black goggle style glasses covered the models eyes throughout – not surprising with how bright the hues were. Matchy-matchy accessories added to each outfit, and not even in a cliched way.

This seemed quite a plain collection for Lauren, however he is remarkable in the way he can create such a huge collection with such simplistic elements. It didn't appear to especially correlate with the other designers, however the two piece suits, trouser suits and A-line shift dresses; though hinting at a 60s vibe could potentially work straight from the runway to be worn by its admirers.

Here are my favourite looks from the whole collection:
