Presented at New York Fashion Week.
I've never really given a full glance to this designer before, but after trawling the photos from NYFW, I've got to admit, this is definitely a designer to watch (in my eyes).
The theme of this collection is the idea of a girl raiding her boyfriend's wardrobe (or closet), and wearing his clothes. With the blazers, prints and trousers, I can see how this would translate. Think of a typical young “cool” guy in a band. Whether its the patterns, his sweater or jacket, you can see the boyish tone throughout. However, I believe while this is the theme, Miller has still managed to produce the collection with a “young, hip city girl” vibe.
Though a dark collection (which is overtly representative of this being a “boyfriend's” borrowed clothes), these looks are very apt for the AW13 season. One alarming point of this catwalk show, is the individual model with the brightest of dip-dye hair. Starting with yellow by the roots, working gradually down to a reddy-orange in loose waves, this really sparked the runway. I'm usually not a fan of orange hair whatsoever, though this model can effortlessly pull it off – probably because her hair was not entirely orange, but only graduating down to this hue. With the added trilby/fedora style hat for winter warmth (and accessorizing), the outfits are finished beautifully. I am definitely intrigued to see what her SS14 collection brings later this year.
Here's some of the looks I love from this AW13 selection:
