Christmas Day Part 1: The annual feast

Hope everyone had an amazing Christmas! While I was working around most of it, I still had the pleasure of enjoying Christmas day itself with my family. I certainly wouldn't have had it any other way. So thought I would dedicate the next couple of posts to my Christmas celebrations…

After working until ridiculous o'clock on Christmas Eve, I went home to wrap the remainder of my family's presents and toast in the new year with some well deserved apple juice (given the day/good news I'd received earlier that day). I'd definitely received my Christmas miracle.

Anyway Christmas Day came and for the first time in forever, I had had a decent night's sleep (so more than just a few hours prior to the day) and woke up refreshed on Christmas morning. It's the first time in years we've actually stayed in on Christmas day without heading over to relatives or out to a restaurant for Christmas dinner too, so my step dad graced us with his cooking skills.

Christmas Day: Part 1

  1. For breakfast we had an amazing salmon mouse on toast with orange juice/tea (lush).
  2. For dinner, we started with a salmon parcel (we do love our salmon), followed by a turkey main and all the trimmings. I even ate a couple of brussel sprouts (which I usually avoid EVERY year). For dessert, we had a chocolate pudding with cream – however I didn't get any photos of that because I ate it too quickly. Delish!
  3. In the evening we opened up all the Christmas snack foods. As you can see from the photos above, My plate wasn't even that full by the evening (but I definitely went back for seconds).

Mix all of that food in with drinks and chocolate and biscuits and you can get the idea as to why I'm so glad I anticipated this feast and pre-prepared beforehand with my pre-Christmas healthy diet! Even now there's still Christmas food, drinks and chocolates I'm working my way through.

We didn't open any presents until after breakfast, but even then, the tree was filled. The photo doesn't do it justice. I'll follow with another post tomorrow about all the amazing things I got.
