Now I was first introduced to Betsey Johnson’s range by a close friend who wore a handbag of hers to work one day – that same day I fell in love. So I hit the internet straight away to find more apparel and accessories and any other info I could grasp.
Sadly, Betsey Johnson has closed down a lot of stores in USA and UK due to bankruptcy. However, the good news is, as there’s been another huge show at NYFW this week – chances are Betsey will reign on, even if it’s just through chain department stores.
I absolutely love the boldness, patterns and colours of this entire collection. It has a real 80s vibe to it – as does a lot of her previously influenced work – very Madonna-esque (such as her Like a Virgin video). It even reminds me of a typical Carrie Bradshaw wardrobe – especially those early years when she moved to New York. With an edgy-punky feel, it’s still very youthful. Crimping of the hair, loud clashing prints and tutus – who wouldn’t want to own some of these? (Even if you didn’t wear the outfits as complete looks), along with complimentary statement make-up. What’s nice about this runway show – there’s such a vast amount on offer – varieties of apparel, accessories, shoes, swimwear and even nightwear.
