Well, I haven’t until recently, read any books (since I was about 16) that weren’t for educational purposes, which grasped my attention at every detail written on each page. That is, not until I discovered one amazing author, Lindsey Kelk and her series of “I Heart…” fictional texts.
Maybe it’s just because the character is someone whose life, while quite dramatic and unplanned, expresses the courage I aspire to have. Maybe it’s the plot of these tasteful men (well only really Alex, although one of her previous dates did have a good taste in jewellery!), or even the descriptions of such an awe of fashion and style within USA. Or maybe, it’s the escapism I receive each time I pick it up, dreaming of one day having my own journo job, living an adventurous life, and very contempt at my achievements. Whatever it is, Kelk really knows how to put those sentences together!
I can honestly say, I’m not usually a fan of most sequels to anything – purely because it just sucks the life out of the original. Somehow the “I Heart…” series overcomes this with leaps of enticement. Rather than shunning the second in the series, “I Heart Hollywood” after reading the original “I Heart New York”, I found myself on edge, wishing for poor Angela’s paths to become right again, and I certainly wasn’t disappointed.
While I was lucky enough to pick these beauties up at a Beauty Sale during work, their retail price is VERY reasonable – certainly the best buy for a holiday read! Everyone who has already read these books will also be pleased to hear that Miss Lindsey Kelk has been contracted to 2012, allowing her to release another 3 books over 6 month periods – while the wait may not seem so long now, I can assure you, once you’ve met Angela Clark, Jenny Lopez and Alex Reid (and no, not MR Cage-Fighter Reid, a lovely young American boy from a band!) you’ll understand the frustration of having to wait for the next edition.
So ladies, grab your handbags and get out to the shops to get yourselves a copy! They’re a 10/10 EASILY!
