Donna Karan Ready to Wear AW14

Presented in New York Fashion Week.

This has got to be one of my favourite collections so far this season, with its dramatic colouring, distinctly strong, yet feminine shapes, and a complementary lighting colour. This is by far one of, if not THE strongest collection of Donna Karan to date – and noone would have expected anything less for her 30th anniversary collection.

Not a print in sight throughout the 43 piece collection, but tailored jackets and blazers, chiffon draping material, as well as exceptionally high slits to the high thigh. A common denominator throughout the collection was the skinny waist belts tied to one side, enhancing the female silhouette.

The bold colouring of monochrome black and whites, mixed with some grey, gold and reds are a representation of the city that built her, stated Karan. The city that is New York.
