I only recently discovered Nicole Miller's designs last season – her AW13 collection. This time around as we're looking to 2014 Spring/Summer looks, I can safely say Miller's designs will be bookmarked in my “List of designers to watch” from now on.
Platform and lattice style sandals accessoried all the looks with clutch bags and long strings of beaded necklaces. An interesting detail I noticed was one particular model's hair shade. A bright green up do was carried down the runway – however she was the only one with this hair colour; in fact, she was the only one with an unnatural hair colour. Perhaps she did this for a purpose?
Mixing several trends together, you'd think the looks would be over characterised. However she got it spot on. Nautical stripes were layered with embellishments and digi-floral prints, along with the new season black and white looks (mostly noted through black leather trousers, white ripped denim jeans and gilets used to roughen up the ladylike looks). These very modern, feminine looks are strong and set the tone for the “city girl” I believe Miller had in mind to wear her looks. Driven, feminine, confident. With bold ensembles clashing to match, creating very unique outfits. Individually these items of clothing are beautiful, and Miller mentioned she took her inspiration from Versailles; the riot of colours, gardens and maze type paths – all create this intricate detail.
This time it was especially hard for me to pick just a few looks I loved, so I've had to narrow down my choice to just under half of the collection in this slideshow below:
