Best Dressed at the Academy Awards: The Oscars 2015

With little change in the overall event and presentation, the 87th Oscars Awards ceremony took place yesterday (while us over in the UK were asleep) at the Dolby Theater, Los Angeles.

As THE biggest showbiz awards show of the season, here are my top looks from the red carpet:

Giuliana Rancic

Giuliana never fails to impress from head to toe, fashion to beauty. With this exquisite dress by Mireille Dagher teamed with Saint Laurent shoes and jewellery from Forevermark diamonds, my favourite E! News anchor was dressed to perfection. She finished the look with a Rauwolf clutch.

Margot Robbie

Stunningly simplistic and chic, former Neighbours star Margot wowed the carpet in this plunge neckline Saint Laurent gown. Her statement zipper necklace is by Van Cleef and Arpels.

Dakota Johnson

Steering clear from the questioning, “will she wear grey?” sniggers after the Fifty Shades release, Dakota stunned us all in a bold red Saint Laurent gown teamed with Forevermark diamonds. Her shoes and bag were both from Bally. Her simplistic ponytail completed the look without taking away from her gorgeous dress.

Naomi Watts

Naomi’s Amani Prive dress was actually a couture piece that didn’t make it down the runway. With complementing blue and diamond drop earrings and a Rauwolf clutch, this look stood out as a modern take on the cut-out trend.

Rosamund Pike

Stunning in this textured Givenchy Couture gown, Rosamund looked divine in this lace number. With so much detail in the dress itself, she opted for a pair of earrings from Lorraine Schwartz.

Jennifer Aniston

Wearing a beaded, nude Versace dress, Jennifer ditched her latest red carpet accessory of choice (a body chain FYI) and opted for this sexy skin tight number and some Fred Leighton jewellery. This woman oozes confidence from this look.

Emma Stone

My favourite redhead of the moment, Emma Stone rocked the red carpet in this beautifully beaded chartreuse Elie Saab Haute Couture dress teamed with Christian Louboutin “Gardnera” heels. She finished her feminine look with Tiffany & Co jewellery and a Lee Savage clutch.

Reese Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon stuck to what she knows best. A classic, clean feminine silouhette created by none other than Tom Ford. Her look was completed by Tiffany & Co jewels.

Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo

Couple of the night a thousand times over went to these hot newlyweds. Adam dressed in Armani while his model wife, Behati wore Armani Prive.

So looks like from my list and the remainder of the red carpet, red was a top colour choice, as was embellishment and pearls, with either hair up and away from the face or down in a lob (that’s a long bob FYI).

Saint Laurent spread the love across the carpet to more than one attendee and boy was that an excellent choice on their part!

Daks Ready to Wear SS15

Presented at London Fashion week.

Having been able to stream this show live, the minimal colours, and fresh looks presented were tailored, while some contrasted with a feminine movement.

Black and white in among a lilac-blue and grey were the main colour stories for this collection. Each look was very sophisticated and fitted. Some were even accessorized with a floral choker – think Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City.

While these looks could be considered simple in most cases, the simplicity is what made them unique – while the confidence of the models strutting down the catwalk enabled each outfit to speak for itself.

Sharp, crisp collars and long sleeve white shirts made a smart appearance, as did halternecks, high-necks, and feathered trousers. London Fashion Week SS15 is certainly off to a smashing start.

Everyone loves a bit of Disney right? And why wouldn’t you? We grew up with it on VHS (R.I.P.) and dreamed of being a mermaid or princess – or both!

Designer brand Givenchy has enabled women to relive their childhoods and not feel as though they’re dressing a decade younger than they should by releasing this fun Bambi sweater:

Priced at £990 from Net-A-Porter, it’s inevitable that even the most stylish young women might not necessarily be able to afford this.
Thankfully, Blonde&Blonde have come up with a similar alternative:

Far more reasonable for the lighter pocket, this Disney memorabilia is available from Bank Fashion for £30.

Lela Rose Ready to Wear SS15

Presented at New York Fashion Week.

I haven’t really seen much of this designer before, but this particular collection grabbed my attention almost instantly. It’s definitely one of my top NYFW shows of this season.

Mixed prints of monochrome – polka dots, florals and a repetitive square print graced the catwalk, followed by hints of blue, yellow, raspberry and a pearlescent pink. From low cut necklines, off-the-shoulder and crop tops, mesh, mid length skirts contrasted by fitted looks and peplums. Each model looked sophisticated and stunning.

Presented at New York Fashion Week.

You can always trust Jeremy Scott’s show to go off with a bang and a statement – literally. Slogans, vibrant colours, and quirky prints filled this latest space by the renowned designer.

This collection represented a very festival/rave feel with a hint of a 70s vibe with the flower-power florals and head dresses, a-line cut dresses and flowing skirts. Even really short-shorts made an appearance with bikinis. These looks are fabulous for anyone who really wants to make a solid entrance.

And lets not forget the funky printed dr. marten boots to give each look a bit of a punk edge, cropped bomber jackets and “fuck shit up” statement – which is exactly what Scott does: he mixes it up and plays by his own rules to create his masterpieces.
